Meet our newest psychiatrist; Dr Catherine Benson
Dr Benson, MBBS, FRANZCP now has private practice consulting rooms and provides inpatient care at Belmont Private Hospital.
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Dr Catherine Benson to our team of psychiatrists at Belmont Private Hospital.
Dr Benson is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). In early April, 2020 she commenced her private practice and inpatient care at Belmont Private Hospital.
Dr Benson sees both outpatients and hospital inpatients at the hospital and holds a special interest in old age and general adult psychiatry. She is particularly interested in mood and psychotic disorders in the general adult and elderly population, as well as dementia diagnosis and management.
Since 2012, she has worked with the Princess Alexandra Hospital general adult and older persons Mental Health Service in both an inpatient and community / outreach setting. Dr Benson has also provided an assessment/outreach service to older adults living in residential care facilities. Dr Benson studied at Griffith University (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery). She is in the last stages of completing an Advanced certificate in Old Age Psychiatry. Dr Benson is also actively involved in education of medical students and junior doctors.
