Dr Alison McColl qualified as a consultant psychiatrist in 2000 and has been an accredited visiting medical officer at Belmont Private Hospital since. Dr McColl provides inpatient and outpatient treatment.
Dr McColl specialises in general adult psychiatry including a special interest in psychotherapy, in particular the conversational model of psychoanalytic psychotherapy and trauma informed care.
She is experienced working within a shared care model with psychologists, GPs and other allied health professionals. Dr McColl has undertaken civil medicolegal work, including assessments and report writing, for a number of medicolegal organisations including WorkCover Queensland.
Between 2004 – 2016, Dr McColl worked at Jacana Acquired Brain Injury Centre, Metro North Hospital and Health Service (Brighton Campus). She completed the majority of her psychiatric training in Brisbane with some of her training in Auckland, New Zealand. In 1990 she was appointed senior psychiatry registrar at Belmont Private Hospital.
