Professional background
Dr Minurika Perusinghe is a locally trained Consultant Psychiatrist with fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). She has a Certificate of Advanced Training in Adult Psychiatry.
She grew up in Canada prior to completing her medical education in North Queensland at James Cook University and her specialist training in regional and metropolitan settings across Queensland. She holds the title of Honorary Adjunct Assistant Professor with Bond University.
Dr Perusinghe has years of experience working in private and public mental health settings in both inpatient and outpatient environments. She has experience working with adolescents and adults, and has experience in general adult psychiatry, perinatal psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry and providing rural and remote outreach. She has experience treating a wide range of mental health conditions including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychoses, personality disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD.
She has an interest in general adult psychiatry, perinatal psychiatry and women’s mental health, and in neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD. She also has an interest in psychotherapy, and provides a recovery oriented framework of care with an emphasis on collaboration and compassion.
