Belmont Private Hospital was proud to support the recent Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Queensland Faculty of Youth Mental Health Psychiatry Dinner, sponsored by Aurora Healthcare and facilitated by Dr David Hartman, Chairperson of the Section of Youth Mental Health Subcommittee.
The evening brought together clinicians, researchers, and mental health advocates to discuss the evolving needs of young people aged 12–25, and the importance of early, specialised intervention in improving long-term outcomes.
Dr Hartman is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Director of the Young Adult Unit at Belmont Private Hospital. He has dedicated his career to improving outcomes for adolescents and young adults facing complex mental health challenges, including mood disorders, trauma, and emerging personality disorders.
In addition to his clinical leadership, Dr Hartman is committed to educating the broader community and mental health professionals. He has recently contributed to Aurora Healthcare’s podcast series, where he explores the complexities of youth mental health through relaxed conversations, clinical case examples, and Q&A sessions. In one episode, he unpacks the challenges of diagnosing and treating personality disorders and other early-onset psychiatric conditions in young people aged 16 to 21. See the link below to list to the episode.
His work reflects a deep understanding of the developmental, emotional, and social factors that influence mental health in young people—and a passion for improving access to care and reducing stigma.
At Belmont Private Hospital, we are proud to offer a dedicated Young Adult Mental Health Program, tailored to individuals aged 16–25. This program provides a safe and supportive environment where young people can access structured therapy, peer support, and clinical expertise to help them navigate conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and emerging personality disorders.
Our multidisciplinary team works closely with patients and their families to build resilience, improve coping strategies, and support recovery through both inpatient and day program options.
Aurora Healthcare’s sponsorship of the RANZCP dinner reflects our broader commitment to supporting initiatives that promote innovation and collaboration in youth mental health. Events like these are vital in fostering dialogue, sharing best practices, and strengthening the network of professionals dedicated to improving outcomes for young people.
Belmont Private Hospital is proud to be part of this mission, and we thank all attendees and organisers for their contributions to such a meaningful evening.
