Important Message from our CEO - Weather Event March 2025

CEO Update: 10 March 2025, 12:00pm

IMPORTANT UPDATE: BUSINESS AS USUAL (Tuesday 11 March 2025) 

We hope everyone remains safe and vigilant throughout this severe weather event. Our hospital continues to monitor the situation closely, following local authority advice. Full business operations are planned to resume as usual on Monday in line with advice.

PRIVATE PRACTICE 

  • All doctor clinics continue to operate as normal however if you need to convert your appointment to telehealth, please call 1800 700 274 to reschedule.

DAY PROGRAMS 

  • All day programs will resume as normal from Tuesday 11 March 2025.

CURRENT INPATIENTS AND UPCOMING ADMISSIONS

  • Inpatient care and admissions continues as usual. Speak with your nurse if you have concerns.
  • We will support patients with communicating with loved ones if their visitors are unable to travel.

HOSPITAL IN THE HOME (HITH)

  • HITH will resume as normal from Tuesday 11 March. We will contact patients directly if this changes.

STAFF

  • Thank you to everyone who has offered to assist if needed.
  • Essential workers are permitted to travel to and from work if it is safe to do so, however your safety comes first.
  • If you are unable to attend your upcoming shift, notify your manager as early as possible to assist with contingency planning.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) support is available. Search ‘EAP’ on Lotti for more information.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

  • Many people may be experiencing a cyclone for the first time.
  • If this event has caused stress or anxiety, prioritise mental health and encourage those around you to do the same.
  • If you have concerns, speak with your GP.
  • Psychiatrists and specialised programs are available to help manage disaster-related anxiety and trauma. We are here to help – reach out to find out how.

Remember: “If it’s flooded, forget it.”

Patients to call 1800 700 274 if they are needing to reschedule their appointment, admission or day program attendance and rescheduling options will be provided. Follow all road and safety directions from local authorities.

  • All day programs will be rescheduled and our staff will contact patients directly.

  • Patients will be contacted directly to make arrangements. Thank you for your understanding.

CEO Update: TC Alfred - 07 March 2025, 10:30am

Our hospital remains open and accepting admissions as we monitor the severe weather. Our Disaster Management Committee remains stood up and is working with local authorities. 

📍 Next Update: We will continue to provide information as the situation evolves. If there are no changes, a further update will be provided on Sunday by 2.00pm with more information on Monday’s plans. We will be posting updates on our Facebook page.   

 

CURRENT PATIENTS 

·         Inpatient care continues as usual. If you have concerns, speak with your nurse. 

UPCOMING PATIENTS 

·         If you cannot attend your appointment or admission, call 1800 700 274 to notify. 

·         Private practice closed this weekend.  

·         Monday updates regarding private practice and day therapy programs will be provided on Sunday today. Telehealth is available for private practice consultations.  

STAFF 

·         If you can’t attend your shift, notify your manager ASAP. 

·         Urgent staff updates: Distributed via your personal email provided 

·         EAP Support available via Loti or your manager.  

VISITORS 

·         Check road closures before travelling. If needed, staff can assist with alternative communication options. 

COMMUNITY 

·         Weather events can cause stress. Please take care of your mental wellbeing. Speak to your GP or seek help, reach out if you need support. 

·         Hospital Admissions are available, contact our assessments manager to discuss your requirements on 1800 700 274.
