Professional background

Katie is a Clinical Psychologist who enjoys working with adults and adolescents (12+) presenting with a variety of concerns and difficulties. Katie adopts a warm and empathic presence to her work and strives to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic space within which personal experiences may be freely expressed and explored. Katie has experience offering both long-term and short-term psychotherapy depending on what may be most helpful and effective for the patient and their goals for therapy.

Katie draws from a range of different psychotherapeutic approaches to best address an individual’s needs, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Katie is also able to offer parenting support working from an attachment-based framework. She values therapeutic approaches grounded in mindfulness and self-compassion practices, and insight-oriented frameworks.

Katie has clinical experience in both the private and public adult mental health and child health sectors, having worked in private practice as well as inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. She has also worked extensively in the field of suicide research.

Katie works as part of the Belmont Therapy Programs team, as well as in the outpatient Belmont Psychology Clinic.
