Professional background
Sorrel, BPsySc(Hons), MClinPsych is a Clinical Psychologist with experience in treating young adults and adults with mental health difficulties such as anxiety, stress, emotion dysregulation and depression. She also works with individuals who have experienced trauma to process and grow through their experience, and to emerge stronger with the right tools to manage the symptoms that can come up from time to time after post-traumatic growth.
"I offer a safe, non-judgemental safe space for you to open up and talk to someone in confidence. Your story, ideas, thoughts and wishes matter greatly to me. Everything we do will be tailored to your unique circumstances and the goals that you want to achieve from therapy. I'll support you to explore and make meaning out of your inner experiences, and to understand them in the context of the past events that have shaped them, as well as the events and other factors that influence how you think, feel and react in the here-and-now."
Sorrel's therapeutic approach... "Pay attention to your patterns. The ways you learned to survive may not be the ways you want to continue to live. Heal and shift." - Dr Thema Bryant-Davis.
Sorrel's practice focuses on (but is not limited to) these therapeutic approaches: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy and Trauma-Informed Therapy including Polyvagal, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Attachment Therapy.
Sorrel offers a range of therapy options, meaning that the treatment choice can be tailored to your presenting issues and your preferences. As an advocate of evidence-based therapy, Sorrel regularly attends training on scientifically supported therapy approaches to ensure she provides you with the best opportunity of meeting your treatment goals.
