This group program promotes healthy living and aims to help patients integrate aspects of both psychological and physical recovery. It focuses on topics such as exercise, diet, nutrition, balanced lifestyle, motivation, goal setting and mindfulness. The program explores different types of exercise in a safe environment (Cardio, Resistance and Mobility based) and then sets activities and goals to be completed independently each week.
In this program you will participate in group sessions which usually have between 6-10 participants. The group will be led by a qualified exercise physiologist who will support group participants to learn practical skills and evidence-based strategies for exercising and eating well. With time to implement practical skills at the gym and take these skills home to begin appropriate regular exercise and informed healthy eating.

Developing an understanding of appropriate strategies to implement exercise and dietary changes to assist in our long-term wellbeing.
Develop an understanding of the metabolic side effects of psychiatric medications and implementing strategies to minimise these side effects.
Assist in the maintenance of these changes through motivation and education around sustaining healthy behavioural change.
Design an appropriate weekly exercise program and practice implementing the changes over 5 weeks.
Learn to make healthy food choices with tools and strategies to reduce discretionary food intake and make informed healthier food choices being able to understand and compare food labels..
