About Managing ADHD Program

The Managing Adult ADHD Program is a 10-week group program based on CBT principles applied specifically to the difficulties associated with ADHD and building resilience in individuals diagnosed with ADHD. This program aims for participants to learn and apply practical CBT-based skills to suit their individual needs. Participants are encouraged to set their own goals, use skills to build motivation and take action that enriches their life.

This program may be suitable for you if:

  • You struggle with motivation and procrastination.
  • You've been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
  • You have a tendency to say or do things before thinking.
  • You find it difficult to stay focused on one task or often get easily distracted.

What you will experience

Throughout this program you will participate in group sessions which typically have between 8-12 participants. The group will be lead by 2 qualified allied health professionals who will support group participants to share lived experiences, and to learn practical skills and evidence-based strategies for managing ADHD. At the end of each session, individuals will be encouraged to set a practise task which will be reviewed in the following session.

Treatment objectives

Objective 1

Understand ADHD - Learn about the neurobiological underpinnings of ADHD, common experiences and causes of ADHD.

Objective 2

Attention and Memory - Learn several practical strategies for managing attention and memory.

Objective 3

Self-Esteem - Identify and utilise strengths, challenging unhelpful thoughts and act in ways that promote self-acceptance.

Objective 4

Emotion Regulation - Learn how to manage intense emotions.

Objective 5

Procrastination - Learn skills to improve motivation and time management.

How to get started

In order to attend this program, participants will require a referral from a Psychiatrist with admission rights to Belmont Private Hospital.

Who will find this program helpful?

This program is developed for individuals who experience symptoms of ADHD or have been diagnosed with ADHD.

How much does it cost?

Patients are admitted as a day patient and as such, can claim their attendance via their health fund. We ask that patients confirm any applicable out-of-pocket excess or gap costs directly with Belmont Private Hospital by calling 07 3398 0270.

When does this treatment start, and how long does it take?

Every Tuesday from 9:15 to 12:30pm over 10 weeks or every Thursday from 5:30pm to 8:45pm over 10 weeks. Light refreshments are provided.
