Professional background
Dr Katherine Watson is a psychiatrist with experience across child, adolescent, and adult mental health.
She has extensive experience working with individuals and families presenting with complex psychiatric, developmental, and trauma-related conditions. Her practice is informed by a strong understanding of neurodevelopment, attachment, and the impact of life experiences on mental health across the lifespan.
In her private practice, Dr Watson provides comprehensive assessment and ongoing management for a range of conditions. She has a particular interest in anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), psychosis and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and enjoys working with patients across different stages of life, from adolescence through to adulthood.
Dr Watson adopts a patient-centred, evidence-based approach, working collaboratively with individuals to develop tailored treatment plans that support meaningful and sustainable improvements in wellbeing.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Watson is actively involved in learning, teaching and training. She has Certificates of Advanced Training in Child & Adolescent and Forensic Psychiatry, and a Masters of Forensic Mental Health. She is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland and contributes to the education of psychiatry registrars and medical students. Her academic work includes peer-reviewed publications and ongoing engagement with contemporary psychiatric research.
