At Belmont Private Hospital, caring for people extends well beyond the services we provide within our hospital. It's about supporting the wellbeing of our staff, patients and the wider community, and finding meaningful ways to contribute to causes that matter.
That's why our team has proudly embraced Aurora Healthcare's Move For More campaign throughout Mental Health Month. Designed to raise awareness, encourage important conversations and support Suicide Prevention Australia, the initiative has united communities and healthcare teams across the country, with more than 700 participants taking part nationwide.
For Belmont, Move For More has been another opportunity to demonstrate something we see time and time again: when there's an important community cause, our people show up.
Mental health impacts individuals, families, workplaces and communities across Australia. As a hospital that provides specialist mental health services, we understand the importance of reducing stigma, fostering connection and encouraging people to seek support when they need it.
Throughout Mental Health Week and Mental Health Month, our team has participated in awareness activities, fundraising efforts and conversations focused on mental wellbeing. These moments provide valuable opportunities to connect with one another, strengthen our workplace culture and contribute to a cause that aligns closely with who we are and the work we do every day.
A highlight of the campaign took place last weekend when Belmont Private Hospital partnered with parkrun to participate in Aurora Healthcare's national Move For More walk in recognition of World Mental Health Day.
The event brought together staff, families and community members for a morning of connection, movement and support. While the walk itself was a simple activity, its purpose was powerful: to raise awareness of mental health, encourage meaningful conversations and remind people that support is available.
It was also a wonderful opportunity to connect with our local community beyond the hospital setting and demonstrate our shared commitment to improving mental health outcomes.
What stands out most from this campaign is the enthusiasm shown by our staff.
Amid busy schedules and the important work of caring for our patients, team members have continued to find time to support fundraising efforts, participate in community activities and champion mental health awareness.
We are incredibly proud of our team for getting involved, supporting one another and rallying behind an initiative that aims to create more awareness, more connection and more hope. Their willingness to show up for causes like this reflects the strong sense of community that exists throughout Belmont Private Hospital.
While the walk may be over, the campaign continues throughout October, and donations remain open in support of Suicide Prevention Australia.
