Dr Syeda Shahzeen Fatima is an Australian psychiatrist and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). She holds an Advanced Certificate in Old Age Psychiatry, reflecting her specialised expertise in this field.

Dr Fatima is highly skilled in providing holistic patient care through evidence-based biological, psychological, and social interventions. She works collaboratively with her patients, their caregivers, and other health professionals, emphasising the importance of the therapeutic relationship in delivering effective care.

In addition to managing major adult psychiatric illnesses, Dr Fatima specialises in late-life depression, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. Dr Fatima earned her MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) from Dow Medical College, one of Pakistan’s leading institutions. She graduated with honours in multiple disciplines, including Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Medicine, and Paediatrics.

Dr Fatima has extensive experience working in various regional and major hospitals across Queensland, including Cairns Base Hospital, Redcliffe Hospital, Caboolture Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital. Her outstanding clinical skills and patient care were recognised with a letter of appreciation from Redcliffe Hospital. She completed her psychiatry training primarily at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane.

Dr Fatima is also an experienced educator, having taught medical students from leading Australian universities, including the University of Queensland and Bond University. She is an active member of the Faculty of Adult Psychiatry, the Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry, and the Faculty of Neuropsychiatry.

Her other interests include research and debate, and she has several research publications to her name. Notably, she won the Mental Health Debate held at The Prince Charles Hospital in 2021.

In addition to English, Dr Fatima is fluent in Urdu and Hindi. She has extensive experience in multicultural assessments and is dedicated to providing culturally appropriate care to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
