Perinatal Depression and Anxiety Awareness Week 2018

On Saturday November 17  Belmont co-hosted a free mindfulness in the water session and Teddy Bears’ Picnic community event with Australian swimmer and former world record holder, Jade Edmistone in support of Perinatal Depression and Anxiety Awareness Week 2018.

Since it’s establishment in 2005, PANDA has been leading the perinatal mental health sector in promoting the Week to raise awareness about perinatal anxiety and depression, including signs to look for and where to go to seek support.

Belmont's free community event was dedicated to developing the mind and body, in and out of the water in support of Perinatal Depression and Anxiety Awareness Week 2018.

Our Teddy Bears' Picnic and Mindfulness swimming session fostered a relaxed and enjoyable environment for all who attended.  It was wonderful to see participants of all ages joining in, walking away with a smile on their face and starting the conversation about Postnatal Depression and Anxiety within the community.

Thank you to the amazing staff who coordinated this very successful event and Belmont's BCPND team for the continual support and care they provide to our mothers and babies at Brisbane's Centre for Postnatal Disorders, Queensland's only private inpatient mother and baby unit here at Belmont.

A special mention must also be extended to those who attended on the day and helped shine a light on Perinatal Disorders. Together, we can help reduce the stigma associated with Perinatal Depression and Anxiety.
