Belmont Private Hospital and Currumbin Clinic Host Mental Health Matters Symposium

On Saturday 20 July, 2019 Belmont Private Hospital and sister hospital; Currumbin Clinic hosted a Mental Health Matters Symposium at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove.

Sponsored by Servier, the interactive mental health education event for General Practitioners was a great success.

With around 40 guests and representatives in attendance, event delegates had the opportunity to discuss key areas of adult mental health with four of our Consultant Psychiatrists from Belmont Private Hospital and Currumbin Clinic.

Dr Dagmar Hlincikova (MBBS, AMC (Cert), FRANZCP, MUDR Comenius) from Belmont Private Hospital presented on Perinatal Mental Health Issues; what you need to know while Dr Saibal Guha (MBBS, MD, FRANZCP) led an informed discussion on Depression and Recovery; progress and pitfalls.

Dr Vicky Satchwell (MBBS (Lond), MRCPsych, FRANZCP, Cert, Addiction.Psych) from Currumbin Clinic presented on Early Psychosis while Dr James Goldstein (MBBS (Lond), FRANZCP, BMedSci, MCM(Distinction) Cert, Addiction.Psych ) delivered on the topic of Prescription Opiates.

Presentations across the day were well received by all with a stream of positive feedback from the GP’s in attendance.

Belmont Private Hospital is committed to raising community awareness about mental health and educating health professionals about treatment options and referral pathways.

We regularly host information events for health professionals with attendance certificates and Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ (RACGP) Quality Improvement and Continuing Professional Development (QI & CPD) points awarded.
